Frequently Asked Questions
What is the SlideSource Library?
SlideSource Library is our secure slide library portal to help organize, develop, and share your slides, presentations, and supporting documents from a single online library — anytime, anywhere.
What is the difference between “Slide Collections” and “Presentation Collections”?
Slide Collections are where each slide is saved and stored as an individual file. Presentation Collections can be thought of as a “playlist” of slides. When you drag a slide to a presentation playlist, you are creating a dynamic link between the playlist and the slide stored in a slide collection. When you download a presentation, SlideSource Library recompiles those individual slides into a complete deck of slides in a PowerPoint file.
Can I store more than PPT slides in SlideSource Library?
Yes, with the new Document Collections feature, you can add any type of file to your library. You can also edit and manage version control of Microsoft Office documents. You can also “attach” or link documents to slides and presentations.
Are my slides safe and secure?
Yes, your slides are safe and secure in the SlideSource Library.
SlideSource Library is hosted on the Microsoft Azure cloud computing platform, which is constantly updated to maintain the highest level of security. SlideSource Library databases are geo-replicated with comprehensive automated backup systems.
SlideSource Library requires that all connections are made through SSL/TLS, the internet standard for connection security. Additional information regarding Microsoft Azure security can be found here.
Can I use SlideSource Library without an internet connection?
Where are my slides being stored?
SlideSource Library is a cloud-based service. When you upload your slides, they reside on our servers, which are hosted on Azure, Microsoft’s state-of-the-art secure cloud computing platform. Ninety-five percent (95%) of Fortune 500 companies use Azure for cloud-based services.
What are the system requirements for using SlideSource Library?
SlideSource Library can be accessed from any browser connected to the internet. Please keep in mind that not all browsers fully support the ability to open a slide in PowerPoint and edit it. System requirements include:
Web Browser: Internet Explorer (9 or newer), Edge, Chrome, Firefox, Opera, or Safari
Microsoft Office: 2007, 2008 (Mac), 2010, 2011 (Mac), 2013, 2016, or 2019
How many slides can I store in my SlideSource Library?
This depends on the subscription plan you select and ranges from 100 slides, with our Free plan, up to as many as 10,000 slides with our Professional plan. A plan can be customized for you based on your specific needs. You can find detailed information on all our subscription plans here.
Is there a limit on the number of presentations?
There is no limit to the number of presentations you can create and store in your library.
Can I edit slides from within a SlideSource Library?
Slides in SlideSource Library can be opened and edited with PowerPoint. You must have a licensed copy of Microsoft PowerPoint 2007 or newer installed on your computer to open slides and edit them from the library. Some browsers may not support the ability to open slides in PowerPoint.
How many slides can I upload to my SlideSource Library at one time?
You will find that the process of uploading, splitting files into individual slides, and creating thumbnails of each slide is fast. While there is no technical limit to the number of slides that can be included in a single upload, we recommend uploading in smaller batches of 50 to 100 slides. This makes the process of organizing your slides more efficient. We have tested SlideSource Library with uploads in batches of more than 500 slides without any problems, but we don’t consider this to be best practice.
Can I send presentations to someone who is not a user?
Yes, when you want to send a presentation, go the presentation, and click the “Share” button. When you enable sharing, you can choose whether or not you want the PowerPoint files to be downloadable. Then you can copy the presentation link provided and send it to whomever you want. They will be able to view the presentation in their browser as thumbnails, or download individual slides or the whole presentation to their computer as a PowerPoint presentation if you enabled the download option.
Is there a “view only” feature that does not allow someone to make edits?
Permissions can be set by administrators that allow certain groups of users to “view only.” Currently, if a user can view slides and presentations, they can also download them. View/Download is the lowest level of permissions available in SlideSource Library. As many different groups can be set up as you like and you can customize each group with different permission settings.
How many folders can I have?
Does SlideSource Library work with Macs?
Yes, SlideSource Library works on Macs. PowerPoint files in your library can be opened directly from PowerPoint on your Mac using Safari or Firefox.
How many versions of my slides will be saved?
Will my subscription be automatically upgraded if I exceed my users/slides?
No, you will not be automatically upgraded, but you will be notified. If you exceed your users/slides, a link will appear, and you will be prompted to manually upgrade your subscription based on your new site needs.
